FILL IN THE GAPS WITH THE CORRECT WORD
Wole Soyinka, who was born in 1934, is a Nigerian writer, poet and playwright. Many 1) __________ him as Africa's most 2) __________ playwright. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1986, the first African writer to win this honour.

A sentence is a group of words that tells a complete thought. A sentence can be a statement or a question. Here are some statements:


- I hate Mondays.

- She forgot to do her homework.

- Girls are cleverer than boys!
A. Add to the following groups of words to make them statements. Don't forget to check punctuation and capitalization after adding your words. You can put the words at the beginning, middle or end of your sentence.

B. Now add more words to make each sentence above longer.
For example:

- I really hate wet Mondays in November.

- She forgot to do her homework for the third time in a week.

- Some girls are cleverer than some boys some of the time!
Proofreading sentences

Proofreading means carefully checking your work for errors. You

should always try to make your finished writing as free of mistakes

as possible. Your writing should be in correct paragraph form.

It should have correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

A. Read the sentences below. When you find a word that you think is misspelled, erase it, and type in the correct spelling.
